  • How to use Taisho Pharmaceutical Stomatitis Patch Taisho Quick Care 10 Patch

    1. Prepare the Area: First, gently rinse your mouth with water. Then, using a clean tissue, carefully pat the surface of the mouth ulcer and the surrounding saliva completely dry. A dry surface is essential for the patch to adhere correctly.
    2. Handle the Patch: With dry fingers, carefully peel one patch from the transparent backing sheet. You will notice the patch has two sides: a darker red, medicated side and a lighter pink adhesive side.
    3. Position the Patch: Hold the patch with the lighter pink adhesive side facing up on your fingertip.
    4. Apply to the Ulcer: Apply the darker red, medicated side directly onto the centre of the mouth ulcer, ensuring it is fully covered.
    5. Secure the Patch: Press down gently on the patch with your fingertip and hold it in place for about 3 seconds. The patch will now be firmly attached.
    6. Let it Set: For the first few minutes after application, try to avoid touching the patch with your tongue to allow it to fully seal onto the wet surface of your mouth.
    7. How it Works: The patch provides a protective barrier and delivers medication directly to the sore. It does not dissolve. It is designed to stay in place for several hours and will peel off naturally on its own once it loosens.
    8. Dosage: Apply one patch to one affected area, once or twice a day. This product is for use by those aged 5 years and older.

Most common questions about Taisho Pharmaceutical Stomatitis Patch Taisho Quick Care 10 Patch

What kind of mouth sores are these patches for?
These patches are specifically designed to treat aphthous stomatitis, more commonly known as canker sores or mouth ulcers. These are typically small, painful, whitish sores that appear inside the mouth. They should not be used on cold sores (which are caused by the herpes virus) or any sores you suspect may be from a fungal infection.

How long does one patch stay on for?
The adhesion time can vary depending on its location in the mouth and the amount of saliva, but typically, a patch will stay securely in place for several hours, providing continuous treatment and protection. It is designed to fall off on its own once it naturally loosens.

Does the patch dissolve in the mouth?
No, the patch does not dissolve. It is a thin film that delivers medication while acting as a physical barrier. It will eventually peel away from the skin on its own. Do not try to forcibly pull it off before it is ready, as this could irritate the area.

I applied the patch, but it fell off right away. What went wrong?
The most common reason for the patch not sticking is moisture. For the adhesive to work correctly, it is absolutely essential to gently pat the surface of the ulcer and the surrounding area as dry as possible with a clean tissue right before application. A dry surface allows the patch to create a strong seal.

What happens if I accidentally swallow a patch that has come loose?
The main material of the patch film is a type of cellulose that is not harmful if accidentally swallowed. It is not digested by the body and will pass through your system naturally.
